The word hoisin is derived from a shortening of the Chinese words for seafood sauce although the sauce does not contain any seafood ingredients and is not commonly consumed with seafood. The reason for the name is seafood flavor. Traditionally, hoisin sauce is made using toasted mashed soybeans, but in this recipe we are not going to use it.
In a bowl, add all the above mentioned ingredients.
Now mix the ingredients well to a smooth paste using a hand whisk or beat well using a spoon.
*I recommend using all the ingredients given in the recipe, as it gives the exact taste , texture and color of the store brought hoisin sauce.
